EXHIBITION: Ground Up
12th October - 14th December 2024
GroundWork Gallery, King’s Lynn
At the end of July this year I took part in the ‘Ground Up’ residency with GroundWork Gallery. The residency took the overall theme of extraction, the invitation was to consider all possible aspects, from literal to lateral, from the physical to the more philosophical. I’m delighted to be showing work as part of the ‘Ground Up’ exhibition which launched on 11th October 2024.
My work explores human interaction/intervention with the landscapes we visited, the spectrum of control through to care, and how stewardship for the earth can take many different forms. The residency challenged my perceptions of what is ‘human’ and what is ‘nature’, leading me to consider the potential role of humans as active participants in the wider ecosystems we are part of (rather than controlling dominators at one extreme, or passive bystanders at the other), and the possibility of reciprocity as a counterpoint to extractivism.

EXHIBITION: Eels, Nearly as Eternal as Any Earthly Life
Curated by Ruthie Collins
2nd May - 2nd June 2024
Norfolk Wildlife Trust Visitor’s Centre, Cley, Norfolk
Throughout May, Cley Marshes will be host to an exhibition celebrating the European eel as part of global celebration World Eel Day 2024. Cley Marshes and surrounding landscape provide vital habitat for the European eel. Come along and find inspiration from works that give visibility to the European eel, plus how Cley Marshes and the surrounding local landscape provide vital habitat to this critically endangered species, also one of the most trafficked animals in the world. Learn more about local memories of the species as well as efforts to restore.
I’m delighted to be showing a series of work inspired by Blakeney Marshes and the Sargasso Sea, 4000 miles apart but both home to the European eel at different stages of its life.
EXHIBITION: Transformative Nature (Conversations)
17 Feb - 16 Mar 2024
The Corn Hall, St Nicholas Street, Diss, IP22 4LB
Open Mon-Sat 10am-4pm
Private View 16 Feb 6-8pm
Closing event 16 Mar 2-4pm
Transformative Nature (Conversations) showcases the collective voice of five diverse artists. For over a year, we have engaged in a rich dialogue centered around the relationship and possibilities of maintaining both an individual and collective practice in relation to art, science, education, nature and the sacred.
Kaitlin Ferguson explores the deep time scales and finite nature of the planet’s resources, utilising waste streams as possible material sources. Holly Sandiford’s practice captures cosmic interconnectedness, weaving together the vastness of outer space with the microscopic life in our soil, resulting in unexpected and otherworldly images. Genevieve Rudd, an adept Community Artist, navigates disrupted rhythms during the Earth Crisis, fostering nature-connection through creative projects that encourage a closer look at our surroundings. Rachel Wright challenges perceptions through multi-layered imagery, transcending polarisation in her exploration of the interconnected nature of the world. Finally, Jacques Nimki's practice focuses on the hidden, the overlooked and the forgotten.
The exhibition serves as a catalyst for a conversation about our roles and responsibilities as both individuals and as a collective, and how, if at all possible, these often incompatible approaches can work in unity towards creating a positive approach to our continually fragile existence.
